Can you believe that the Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge - SCARS - is celebrating its 40th Anniversary! Wow, that's a huge achievement in anybody's book, but how awesome that SCARS has managed to keep going for so long and all to provide a temporary, safe refuge for cats and dogs in need, whilst finding these poor darlings new homes. I know that Sunny Coasters love their animals to bits and what better way to show support for our less fortunate furry pals, than joining in on the Paws for a Cause Long Table Lunch.
The Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge was founded in 1979 and is an independent, non-profit, charitable organisation that depends on donations to keep their operations going. SCARS has a non-euthanasia policy and since being established forty years ago SCARS, together with a dedicated group of hardworking volunteers and staff, have saved more than 40,000 dogs and cats.

People, Plates & Places, the amazing restaurant without walls, in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland is extending this invitation to you, to celebrate SCARS' amazing 40th Anniversary milestone, over a relaxing long table birthday lunch in the paddock. This fabulous celebratory Paws for a Cause Long Table Lunch will encompass a deliciously, decadent four-course meal with superbly paired wines. Each course is creatively crafted with selected authentic produce, showcasing local growers and regional flavours, all designed to enhance the diners' sensory pleasure.
The venue for the Paws for a Cause Long Table Lunch is a private property in Montville, that will be revealed to diners two weeks before the celebration, together with other important information such as directions, dress recommendations (hopefully not gumboots) and dietary needs. How exciting! I just love secret locations …
A tranquil, secret location to share good food, good wine and good company!
People, Plates & Places is a true plate to paddock integration between chef and farmer. Diners can meet the farmer, the chef, the winemaker and the growers - perhaps even the candlestick maker - to hear their stories and listen in awe to their aspirations and dreams. Wherever the restaurant is … behind farm gates, in the paddock or under the stars, diners can be assured of a tranquil, spectacular setting.
One never-ending long table, white tablecloths, sparkling glasses, crockery and cutlery, there is nothing quite like sharing good food, good wine and good company - it truly is one of life's simpler pleasures and is available to you at the Paws for a Cause Long Table Lunch.
