Last Saturday while we were lazily strolling through the artsy Smith Street in Fitzroy, this cafe that goes by the name of Pavlov's Duck caught my eye. Although, I love to read articles of psychology every now and then, 'Pavlov's Duck' seemed a bit amiss, although I couldn't immediately tell whether that was exactly the one I have read about in the past. So I immediately took out my phone and searched - Pavlov's Dogs - Ah, then it all came back to me in an instant, conditioning theory; and then when I looked back up again at Pavlov's Duck, I thought, interesting choice of name for a cafe.

A rustic cafe, neatly tucked into between the Smith Street shops, they have friendly staff and decent coffee (that's also Fair Trade). Add to that free WiFi and comfortable seating, it's a sweet spot to unwind. We got ourselves a cappuccino, mocha and a banana bread.

Now given an option, I like to go easy and therefore prefer no butter on my toast. So when the gentleman behind the counter asked me whether I'd like some butter on the banana bread, I politely refused. But when the banana bread did arrive at the table we were seated, there was some butter on the side; what if we had decided to change our mind. Clever bit of customer service and thankful I was. The coffee was all right, but it was the banana bread that tasted truly out of the world. It left us feeling full and content.

And it is definitely this 'thought of banana bread' that leaves me drooling and will bring me back again to try more of their treats.
