Dressed in a simple yet classy black suit is a man who boasts of a seriously beautiful accent and an incredible talent that he's brought to the Adelaide Fringe to share with us.

Paul Dabek isn't your ordinary magician – no, he incorporates several themes of charm, humour, likeability, and a touch of magic. From the moment he walks onto the stage, you really can't help but follow his one very simple instruction: "Look At Me". And honestly, he's always on the move, so blink and you might miss the magic.

With his similar antics and personality to that of beloved British character Mr. Bean, Dabek channels his own sense of individuality and personality into his performance. Don't be fooled by his seemingly innocent appearance, because Dabek is all kinds of cheeky and mischievous! And he's going to keep you on the edge of your seat for one glorious hour. After all, it's no surprise that Dabek has won 2 awards in the past two weeks - he's simply amazing at what he does.

I particularly enjoyed the interactive element of the audience, where Dabek often included members of the audience; some lucky enough to be a part of his act(s). As quickly as he is to "pick on" the target, he just as easily makes them irresistible to his wit. Most of his props are made up of "the usual" – ropes, cards, handkerchief – the works. But, it's the way and mannerisms with which Dabek works with his props that makes him stand out from the rest.

While I haven't been to many magic shows in the past, I was impressed by Dabek's show – and be prepared to leave the show in stitches (from laughter, of course), because he is not only excellent at deceiving what you see, but also possesses a strong level of showmanship that will leave you wanting more.

Having been to Adelaide 3 times prior, it is no surprise that most of his shows are sold out and win award after award. He occasionally needs assistants who are hand-plucked from the audience, but apart from that, he is a one-man show (and a seriously good looking one at that!), who knows how to woo his audience cleverly.

Look At Me will be available for viewing at the German Club on Flinders Street in the CBD till March 19. Book your tickets here and feel free to connect with Paul Dabek via his social media platforms:
