I love trying new food and new restaurants. My other passions are Origami www.weekendnotes.com/origami-classes-japan-australia-friendship-association/ and Pokémon www.weekendnotes.com/pokemon-center-tokyo/

Recently opened, the Pattysmiths at North Park Shopping Centre in Prospect is one of a chain of restaurants throughout Australia that offers delicious burgers. Aside from the expected beef and chicken burgers, the restaurants also offer burgers featuring plant-based patties.

The Wagyu beef patty in The Original Pattysmiths had a lovely crusty exterior with the interior still remaining juicy. Pickles added a hint of tanginess and cheese a bit of creaminess. Completing it was lettuce and tomato for some freshness and the restaurant's Pattysmiths sauce.

We liked that the crunchy chicken fillets in the Deluxe Double Spicy Chicken Burger were succulent and the crisp coating acted as a good contrast. The spicy sauce provided a spicy kick that should be suitable for most tastes, which was balanced out by the tomato. A generous amount of coleslaw provided a change of texture and a bit of freshness.

When ordering their fried chicken, customers have the choice of either chicken wings, drumettes or boneless thigh pieces. The boneless thigh pieces that we chose were done as well as the chicken patties in their burgers. The batter coating was not too thick. For the accompanying dipping sauce, we chose the spicy chipotle sauce, which had a smoky flavour with a hint of heat.

Their Chips were fried to golden brown with fluffy interiors and were seasoned with the right amount of salt. The chips were also packed in a way to ensure they remain crisp for customers opting for a takeaway order.

Their Onion Rings were of a good size with the slightly sweet flavour that you would expect. The batter coating the Onion Rings was not too thick, which also gave them a nice bit of crunch.

Pattysmiths primarily caters for takeaway but there are still a few seats inside and outside the restaurant for those that choose to dine-in. Parking is not a problem as the carpark of the shopping centre provides convenient off-street parking.
