Brisbane fashion house Easton Pearson are being celebrated in an exhibition at RMIT Gallery . Pattern and Print: Easton Pearson Archive will be displayed from 9 March to 8 May 2021.

Having met in 1987 and joined forces to start a small independent label. Easton was a fashion buyer and Pearson was a self-taught pattern maker and arts graduate. Easton Pearson was born inspired by Indian, African, European and vintage clothing and textiles, as well as movies, book and museums of an era past. The use of hand-sewn embellishment and artisanal techniques became Easton Pearson signatures.


Not only did they create their own designs but the also collaborated with individuals artists to create unique designs which ranged from colourful hand-sewn embellishments, bold digital prints of original artworks or painted by hand directly onto a dress.

Pattern and Print: Easton Pearson Archive highlights Easton Pearson's collaborative approach, featuring a selection of vibrant garments that highlight the technical innovations, bespoke fabric, bold prints and embellishment choices of the fashion house over its remarkable 28-year history.


A mural by Brisbane-based painter, illustrator and long-time collaborator by Stephen Mok will complemented the garments.
