[ADVERT]Would you like to taste some wonderful South Australian wine but don't have the time to head out of town? Something of a little secret tucked away in suburban Adelaide might be just what you're after.
Patritti Winery situated in Dover Gardens in metropolitan Adelaide, offers cellar door tastings and sales six days a week. Patritti's operates on the original site where the winery was established in 1926 and is today the only fully-functioning winery in metropolitan Adelaide.
Patritti Winery was started by Giovanni Patritti who migrated to South Australia from the Italian wide region of Piedmont in the 1920s. Today, Patritti's is still 100% owned by the Patritti family. Now surrounded by suburban homes and a park on one side, Patritti's sells an extensive range of premium wines, de-alcoholised wines and non-alcoholic sparkling juice and still fruit juices.
The winery's vineyards are located in McLaren Vale's sub-regions of Tatachilla, situated near the coast and Blewitt Springs, just east of the town of McLaren Vale.
There is something for every wine drinker at Patritti with the special dry red and chardonnay both available in 1.5 litre magnums at excellent prices, with the most expensive items in the Patritti Family Range selling for around $18 a bottle. After a few tastings, my favourite was the Patritti Barbera ($16).
Wine-tasting and sales at the Patritti cellar door are available from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Saturday.
