Melbourne is renown for its street art culture, with tourists and locals alike flocking to laneways, and nooks and crannies to discover them in the city, and a few inner city suburbs like Prahran where I live. Before Covid, Benalla had the
Wall to Wall Festival which showcased the latest street art offering, with local and international street art artists, painting live in the town. Visit Benalla and you'll see street art everywhere, with the rural community of Goorambat just 15 mins up the road housing fabulous street art by renown artists Adnate, along with DVATE's incredible works adorning the Gooramat silos. A lover of all things arty, including street art, I was actually there that year when DVATE painted them and spent all day in both towns for the street art festival.
If like me you love street art and want to have a piece of something quintessentially Melbourne, don't miss out on
Paste-Up 's pop-up store that's
only at 1/63-73 Fitzroy Street, St Kilda (0450 015 263), till Christmas. You'll find the artwork of 19 talented street artists featured on a range of giftware, homewares, clothing, accessories, and original artwork.
Paste-up aims to promote and celebrate the vibrant street art culture in Australia by providing a platform for artists to showcase and get paid for their work. By collaborating with these talented individuals, Paste-up ensures artists are paid fairly for the use of their artwork, which in turn supports their creative endeavours and acknowledges their contributions to the local art scene. From unique prints and collectible items to stylish clothing and statement accessories, you'll have the opportunity to own a piece of Australian street art history like a true blue Melburnian.
Not just a reminder of a vibrant street art culture, this is also a way to support local artists. Products include beach bags, bomber jackets, car air fresheners, greeting cards, key tags, lens cloths, luggage tags, paste-ups, sports bags, stickers, stubby holders, t-shirts, tea towels, tote bags and zip pouches. Head to the store to discover unique and exciting pieces reflecting Melbourne's street art culture. If you're unable to immerse yourself in the real thing, you can still
purchase goods online .
