A world of edible luxury

A sweet oasis in Carindale Shopping Centre, Passiontree Velvet is a dessert café with a difference. With a cabinet full of luscious treats, a passion for quality tea and the best high tea you'll find in Brisbane, this is a café you will come back to again and again.

Sister café to Passiontree in the CBD, Passiontree Velvet was created to showcase the talents of the groups patisserie chef. And showcase it does, with a range of the most perfect macarons you'll ever taste and gorgeous cakes so delicious you won't want to leave a crumb on the plate.

And the best way to enjoy these tasty goodies is in one of Passiontree Velvet's luxurious high teas. It all starts with a pot of Harney and Sons British tea, in flavours like Hot Cinnamon or the chocolatey Florence (which tastes like a wicked cup of hot chocolate, without the calories) as well as classics like Earl Grey. The refillable teapots mean you can drink until you can drink no more, which comes in handy when you need break from eating all the dainty morsels on the tiered high tea stand which follows.

The treats begin on the bottom tier, with a selection of ribbon sandwiches with classic high tea fillings. You'll feel like English royalty as you nibble on the dainty cucumber, egg salad and salmon and cream cheese snacks. What comes next depends on which high tea you've chosen. I would highly recommend the Duchess Full High Tea, because the next tier in its lavish spread is layed out with warm Devonshire scones (the proper English kind, not our sorry interpretation), jam and cream. But these are just a warm up for the 'high tea fancies' on the top level, which include a selection of those gorgeous cakes mentioned earlier.

If you're a chocolate lover though, you might want to go all out and indulge in the chocolatiers high tea, with an array of chocolate bonbons, truffles, macarons and brownies that will have you on a sugar high for days. Little ones can be just as spoilt with a Teddy Bears Picnic, a miniature high tea with sandwiches, biscuits, a macaron and babychino or juice. The perfect size for small fingers and tummys, it's also a fabulous idea for birthdays (and princess parties).

There's plenty more deliciousness on offer, including more savoury meals like croque monsieur, as well as chocolate and macaron gift boxes available, so if you need a break from shopping in Carindale, or just a girls day out, Passiontree Velvet is a world of edible luxury ready to indulge your every sugary fancy.
