Fun for the whole family
Parramatta Winterlight Festival

Prince Alfred Square is once again the location for the annual Winterlight Festival in Parramatta, back for 17 days of wintery fun and family-friendly activities. It's a touch of Europe meets Sydney with a wonderland of ice, snow and wonderful warming food.

The picturesque heritage grounds will see the SmoothFM open-air ice rink return, featuring a spectacular opening night ice show with champion skaters in dazzling costumes and performances, along with entertainment from various singers.

There's so much on this year, with the following to enjoy:-

Icy Fun




Ice shows - continue each Friday and Saturday night throughout the festival
A dedicated kid's skating rink with penguins for hire
Learn to skate classes on Friday mornings
Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights - a live DJ will pump out great dance hits for you to skate to
28 metre long ice slide with Arctic Blast Toboggan ride
New snow ball play area - build your own snowman with real snow

Entertainment



Live music from local musicians - various nights at the Alpine Food Village Stage
The Cumberland Gang Show - a medley of songs from a talented bunch of kids who sing, dance and do comedy in a musical variety format
Toybox Jesters - look out for these colourful roving stilt walkers bringing cheer
The Cloudmen - roving walks of art with cloud umbrellas, wearing cloud suits and apples on heads, illuminated in the night
The Vintage Light Up Lady - with wings that reach 8 feet tall, she creates a light filled fairytale experience with magical colour

Themed Nights



Onesie night - yes wear your warm winter onesies and head to the rink and the mayhem where you will be joined by The Motel Sisters for a party night with prizes for the best dressed
Date night - bring your favourite person for a magical skate under the stars, whether it be your partner or bestie

Kid's Creative Hub



Workshops - cookie decorating, sand art, snowflake making, hot choco making, Winter Olympics, cotton ball penguins, grass arts
Circus Playground - test your skills juggling, spinning and balancing objects, and try walking on stilts

Winter Garden



Take a selfie or a family portrait in the magical garden
Wander through snowflakes, pretty lights at night and let your imagination run free

Outdoor heaters on stands at tables and benches will keep you somewhat warm, day and night.

Check the website for all the dates and times of the various activities so that you don't miss out. Whilst the ice shows, entertainment and kid's hub workshops are free, ice skating is from $10, penguin hire is $8, learn to skate classes are $39, a snow play 20 minute session is $12, toboggan rides are $4 per ride or $10 for 3 rides, themed nights are from $10 and carnival rides are $1 for 1 coupon, $25 for 30 coupons or $50 for 60 coupons. On Tuesdays, there are 2 for 1 deals to enjoy that also include meal combo deals.

On 9 July you can get out of the cold by dropping into the nearby Riverside Theatres and taking in a wintry movie. Happy Feet, Everest and Eddie the Eagle are screening with session prices at $12.

Last but not least, St Patrick's Cathedral across the road will light up for part of the festival (until 9 July) with light animations and messages of hope projected onto the facade of the building.

Winterlight is open day and night for you to skate, eat and play from 5pm on opening night and thereafter Mon-Thurs 11am-10pm and Fri-Sun 10am-11pm. Entry is free.

Wear your winter woollies, grab a hot chocolate and have a magical time!
