A pleasant find by the river
Parramatta Park, located on the western edge of Parramatta CBD is a lovely place to bring your kids or some friends for a catch up. Keep driving in from the entrance corner of Pitt street and Macquarie street and about two kilometers in, you will find a delightful structure with balconies, indoor and outdoor seating, overlooking the river beyond.
This is a very special spot indeed and I'm sure our friends in the eastern suburbs of Sydney aren't necessarily aware such a place exists. With parking available for about 5-10 cars, who would've thought one would be able to find such a gem right here in the western suburbs of Sydney. Parramatta park is easily accessible by car or a close walk from Westmead train station. There is even a bike rising track around the park where you will find many young and older cyclists, joggers or people walking.
With a lot of space to walk around and play for little kids, one can often find mums and bubs together on a weeknd enjoying brunch. The cafe staff are friendly and the food is excellent especially for brunch - nutritious, healthy and delicious. I'm usually full for hours afterwards. The serving sizes are quite generous and there's even something there for vegetarians. Also do try the fruit drinks you can purchase at the bar- they are quite nice indeed.
You can enjoy a lovely stroll in the park afterwards, grab a coffee and relax by the river, watching the ducks or simply soaking in some sunshine. You can also grab lunch at the cafe. It is open from 8am to 3 pm everyday including weekends. It is possible to host events and special functions here too- simply contact the staff to discuss your options.
The cafe is not usually very crowded even on weekends and I've always managed to get a spot without booking however it's always a good idea to book for larger groups. They even have a kids menu, a beverage menu, one for breakfast and lunch too. I particularly recommend the vegetarian big breakfast. The coffee wasn't too bad either.
