Parramatta CBD is vibrant, lively and colourful. It offers places and activities for every taste. It is a well known shopping centre. However, not everybody knows that Parramatta is also a home to the Parramatta Art Society, which is the longest running art society in NSW.
Parramatta Art Society Gallery is an oasis of art and creativity. The Gallery is located at The Connection Arcade, Shop 11, 162 -172 Church St, Parramatta, next to the train station, and is run by volunteers. The gallery is supported by Parramatta City Council and Pop Up Parramatta. The gallery holds a year round exhibition with works on display changing every 6 weeks. Works of hundred of artists are on display and if you are in a search of a special present or looking at add some style to your home decor, you will definitely be pleased with what you can find in this gallery. Now it is great time to visit the gallery with new displays starting on Wednesday, 1st of May 2013.
With so many paintings in different styles, from traditional oil paintings to modern art, from aboriginal art to photo-like portraits, you can find that special gift to someone special.
As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. You will understand the full meaning of this once you step into the gallery. It is open Wednesday to Saturday from 10 am. Just come in and check it out for yourself, admire the work of aspiring artists, chat with friendly volunteer staff and, why not, even sign up for the art class.
Classes are run for members and non-members, and you might find your new passion in oil painting or life drawing. Attend one of the classes, and you might understand that power of art which drove Picasso or Renoir or discover the talent you never imagine you had.
