Don't miss this epic weekend of cultural experiences

Celebrate a decade of diversity with a jam-packed weekend of food, music, dance, culture and theatre as Parramatta's Prince Alfred Square is transformed into a bustling cornucopia of cross-cultural experiences at Parramasala!

Held over three fun-filled days, 13 to 15 March, this year's exciting FREE festival program pays tribute to ten years of cultural wonder!

Below are just some of the multicultural arts, food, and entertainment events and activities to look forward to:

  • The iconic Welcome Parade kicks off the festival with a feast of colour, movement and sound! Expect over 600 performers, drummers and musicians from more than 40 cultures! Join the thousands of spectators lining the streets to watch in awe as the procession moves through Parramatta, capturing hearts and sparking imagination in its wake.

  • Masala Taste is a bustling International Food Village, where you can enjoy a mouth-watering array of delectable delights. Soak up the intoxicating aromas of distinct food cultures from across South Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and the Pacific.

Plus on 15 March, don't miss the International Aromas Festival, a brand new pop-up cultural precinct at Market Street pairing coffee, sweet treats, chocolate and market stalls, in celebration of the humble coffee beans widespread embrace in global cultures.

  • Masala World Movies presents a strong showcase of the burgeoning South Asian film industry and beyond. Settle in for FREE screenings of brilliant world cinema on the lush banks of the Parramatta River foreshore every day at 7.30pm.

  • Kids International Eco Village is a dedicated space where children can get involved in interactive workshops on cultural arts, enjoy family-friendly music and entertainment, catch incredible magic shows and take part in eco-friendly activities and FREE face-painting, all while learning about how to care for our natural environment.

  • World Dance Congress is a lively invitation to share cultures through costume, colour and movement from the unmistakable rhythms of Indian Bharatanatyam to African street dance, to Middle Eastern belly dancing and traditional Indigenous dance.

  • Masala Music Festival is a FREE event headlined by Grammy Award-winning international party band Los Amigos Invisibles. The stellar line-up also includes ARIA-nominated Mojo Juju and Adrian Eagle, R&B artist Miiesha, Persian rapper CHAII and South African/Swazi lyricist Temgazi.

With so much on offer, Parramasala is the place to be 13-15 March. Start planning your Parramasala 2020 experience today by visiting discoverparramatta.com/parramasala. We can't wait to see you there!
