Running is nothing new but Parkrun is breathing new life into this old exercise format - and it's finally made its way to the Sunshine Coast. It's basically a free, weekly 5km run every Saturday morning along the beautiful coastline. You don't have to be an elite athlete to join up either, Parkrun is designed for everyone, from those just getting used to running for their health to those who can't get through the day without burning off some excess energy first thing in the morning.

The concept has already taken off worldwide. In Australia alone, there are close to 200 clubs and more than 8300 runners all participating around the country. Every Saturday residents are invited to participate in the free event - you can either run or walk it's totally up to you. It's a great way to test your physical abilities, make some new friends or just a new way to see the Sunshine Coast.
