Let's walk for a cause
Do you know someone who is living with Parkinson's disease? There is no known treatment yet but we can help find a cure by participating on this charity walk to boost the much-needed funds for vital research. It will also give a big relief to those people, including their families, who are caring for them by providing the support services they need to continue their good deed.
The walk will start at Rond Terrace in Commonwealth Park, next to Nerang Pool, heading towards Regatta Point and returning along the shores of Lake Burley Griffin via the Menzies Walk.
This event is not a race. Participants can complete the route, either the 3.5km or 2km, at their own pace whilst enjoying the magnificent sights of our capital. In case you have a physical limitation and can't do the entire walk, there are short cuts along the course that you can take that will lead you up to the finish line and that is totally fine.
Registration starts at 9:30am. Please visit the website for the details on how to register. Or if you can't do the walk for some reasons, you can still participate by sponsoring a friend who I am pretty sure will be more than happy to take your place. The site also contains information on how to get to the event area if you're taking the bus.
This type of event will not be a success without the hard-working and dedicated volunteers so if you're keen on helping out, visit the volunteer page on how to register your interest.
There will be a sausage sizzle around midday after the walk, or you can simply bring your own picnic goodies and just chill out by the lake.
Rain or shine, this walk will still proceed so bring along your friends and family to show our support in finding a cure for Parkinson's. No one is exempted and anyone can get it. Let's all walk for cause.
