Park(ing) Day

What is PARK(ing) Day?
Teams of designers, creative people and others who are passionate about their city temporarily transformed on-street car parks into creative spaces that make the street a more enjoyable, attractive and sociable place for the day.

PARK(ing) Day is all about:
Focusing attention on the importance of urban public spaces
Rethinking the way we use our streets
Prompting conversations about design and creating sustainable cities

History of PARK(ing) Day
The first PARK(ing) Day occurred in San Francisco in 2005. It was the brainchild of Rebar. A single parking space was transformed into a public park. Adelaide has been running PARK(ing) Day for five years. It is supported by the Adelaide City Council and the Australian Institue of Landscape Architects (SA Chapter).

PARK(ing) Day is sponsored by:
Royal Wolf - hire the most amazing Event Kiosks.
Krispy Kreme Doughnuts - makers of celebrity status donuts and Barista Coffee.
Rundle Mall - where there is so much to see and do.
Stylecraft - create designer furniture for your home or office.
