As I've reviewed before, Parkdale is a cute little town situated near the beach. What I failed to mention was Ficelle's was not just the only worthwhile place in Parkdale to have a good feed.

"Parkers Cafe" is aptly named being situated in the heart of Parkdale on Parkers Road. It is a small little cafe with what could possibly be described as odd seating arrangements; perhaps this was an element the cafe wanted to achieve? The cafe offers both indoor and outdoor eating. The outdoor area is on the footpath and is warmed with overhead heaters and the cold elements are kept out with clear blinds which make it even snugger.

The staff are very relaxed and friendly. I got the sense "Parkers" is a popular little cafe with many regulars who are on first name terms with the staff and they are always welcomed with open arms. Water is given to the table when seated and once you're through a bottle another is speedily delivered to your table. The music has a typical modern lounge feel to it allowing you to relax and gently tap your toes along.

There are two specials boards, one on the outdoor area and one inside. What amazed me was the speed the barista made the coffees, he had them made in seconds and I was bewitched watching his style and flair; you can always be sure you'll get a coffee fast at "Parkers".

There are twenty choices for breakfast, ten Tapas plates, five toasted Turkish/open sandwiches- upsized with chips or wedges, and eleven lunch choices. There are also desserts which can be viewed on a small cabinet on the counter. All meals have cute quirky titles such as "Blokes Beans", "Starvin Marvin" "Bad Ass Burgers" or "Prawnaphidis". On a par with the barista, the cook was equally as fast and our meals were served within ten minutes.

We sampled the "LPC" (Lemon Pepper Calamari) and "Bad Ass Burger". The LPC was very fresh and had no chewiness. It was coated in a light flavoursome tempura batter and was served with thick cut chips and fresh salad with a light balsamic dressing. The "Bad Ass Burger" comes with everything, egg, onion, tomato, lettuce, mayo, cheese, meat patty, tomato and BBQ sauce. It is a very filling burger but so worth it. The waiter said I would want to sleep after eating it and he wasn't far wrong. We ended up sharing a slice of cheesecake which was very smooth and light which was good after such a heavy meal.

The meals are perhaps a little over priced but you can probably justify it. The cafe also offers a takeaway menu which takes 20% off all food within the takeaway menu. They also offer private functions on Friday and Saturday nights.

They are open from 7am-4pm Mon-Fri and 7.30am-4pm Sat-Sun. So why not pop in and have a good feed or if you're still not convinced why not jump online for more information at www.parkerscafe.com.au or give them a call on 9588-2821.
