Become Part of the Fun Run Family
Do you like running? Do you like to check and improve your times? Do you like to run with others as incentive? Park Run is for you.
A worldwide venture, started in the United Kingdom, Park Run organises free weekly timed runs. Held in parkland on weekend mornings, these 5 kilometre runs are open to all – "from juniors and first timers to Olympians and octogenarians".
Parkrun was launched in Australia at Main Beach on the Gold Coast in April 2011 with 108 runners. It now involves 166 parks Australia-wide. Park Run is totally free thanks to sponsorship from businesses such as Suncorp and Stockland and the use of volunteers to organise events.
You're not a 'thing' till you have a T shirt.
Nothing in your area? Don't worry. Parkrun aims to provide a run to any community that wants one. All you have to do is get in touch.
Parkrun is not about racing or being competitive but is about enjoying running.
What do you have to do? Log in here, collect your bar code and then just turn up. You can even link to your Fitbit!
In the Brisbane area Parkrun venues are found at Ashgrove, Berrinba, Callamvale, Capalaba, Chermside, Cleveland, Kedron, Logan River, Mitchelton, New Farm. Petrie, Sandgate, South Bank, Stones Corner, Wishart, Wynnum, Yarrabilba.
