December 2021 is the month to showcase the amazing national parks of eastern Kangaroo Island. A number of events focusing on culture, history, science and nature have been planned as part of the celebration.
On Fridays the 3rd, 10th and 17th, there are special after-hours climbs to the top of Cape Willoughby Lighthouse where you will be rewarded with spectacular views. The climb will cost $17 per person and tickets can be purchased over the phone on 0419 945 565.
D'Estrees Bay is the place to be on Saturdays the 4th and 11th. Walk or drive, the choice is yours. The guided morning walk will introduce you to local marine life and coastal birds while the afternoon driving tour will expand your cultural and natural knowledge of the area. Both activities are free, but you'll still need to make a booking via their respective websites.
At Lashmar Conservation Park, on Sundays the 5th and 12th, you have the opportunity to join rangers for a ramble along Chapman River learning about its ecosystem and wildlife. Again, although free, bookings are required to participate in this ramble.
And, last but not least, have you had an exclusive experience with Australian sea lions before? If not, then this is your chance. You and a maximum of seven other people will be the only ones on the beach with these endangered animals on Wednesdays the 8th, 15th and 22nd. Tickets are $38 per adult and $21.50 per child. To book, please ring 85534460 or email email@example.com.
