Flinders Ranges National Park

Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park is being celebrated as park of the month in October 2021. Numerous activities have been planned including guided walks, driving tours and community events.

Over the long weekend, Friends of Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park will host heritage walking tours of the Old Wilpena Station and Appealinna Ruins. And later, on Tuesday the 19th, park rangers will lead an Aboriginal cultural walk around the Perawurtina cultural site.

For those with a 4WD or high clearance 2WD, you are invited to come along on two different driving tours. The first will be held over the long weekend and includes a visit to Golden Spike and Acraman Ejecta with the Friends. Then, on the 13th and 16th, ranger-in-charge Alan Harbour will guide you along the Brachina Gorge geological trail.

Both these guided walks and driving tours are free, however, you will need to secure your spot via their respective websites. In addition to that, the Friends will also be organising a BBQ at Hills Homestead and tea at Old Wilpena Homestead over the long weekend. Bookings are not required for these community events, so just drop by and say hi on the day. Food and beverage will be available for a small cost.
