Summer is here and now is the ideal time to see an outdoor movie. When the sun has set, it is a bit cooler and far more pleasant outside.

This summer, you can go to FREE screenings on the Victoria Habour waterfront in Docklands. There will be classic family movies on offer and the first one will be on Friday 8th February 2019, from 7.00 pm tuntil 11.00 pm. This will be on at the Park Cinema Docklands and it will be the 1986 cult-classic, Labyrinth, which is rated G for general exhibition and therefore a family movie.

Labyrinth is a journey into a fantastical world and stars the late David Bowie and a cast of incredible creatures, which were created by Jim Henson. This film is a cult classic about a teenager who resents her brother and inwardly wishes he would just disappear. By some miracle, this is exactly what happens and her wish comes true when a goblin kidnaps him. Sarah is extremely guilty about this, so she goes on a hunt to find her baby brother and bring him back home. However, rescuing him is far more difficult than she had originally expected.

You can bring along some bean bags and a picnic dinner or you can buy a takeaway food pack of your favourites from a local shop. Park Cinema is also BYO, so you can also bring a bottle of bubbly or a six-pack to drink with friends under the stars.

The gates will open at 7.00 pm and the movie will start at dusk, which will be approximately 8.30 pm. There will be no reserved seating, so it would be a good idea to arrive early to get a good spot on the grass and perhaps partake in a pre-movie picnic.

The cinema is located at Buluk Park, which is just in front of the Library at The Dock and this is adjacent to the terminus of trams no. 11 and 48. Victoria Harbour is in the free tram zone, so you would be able to get the free tram straight to the Park Cinema entrance.

The actual address is:
Buluk Park
894-910 Collins Street
Dockland

Otherwise, if you want to drive the closest car park to the venue is the Care Park on Merchant Street, Docklands.

Other future programs include Friday 15th February for the movie My Best Friend's Wedding and you can register here for this event.

There will also be Bride and Prejudice on Saturday 23rd February and you can register here for this one.

A suggestion for food is a specially made Park Cinema Italian antipasto pack from Saluministi who have put the perfect share pack together. Their antipasto box is $30 and includes two x 500ml Aqua Panna (water bottles). You can phone the Saluministi Docklands store on 9088 2999 to pre-order and pay.

After you have had your Italian snacks you could cross the lawn to a favourite local place - chocolatier Kep Whitley. Kep has some homemade ice-cream pops for $5 in several flavours.

Park Cinema Docklands is presented by Victoria Harbour and last season's screenings sold out very quickly, so make sure you book in early to obtain your free tickets.

More information can be seen at this booking link. This will be a pleasant family outing incurring little costs!
