The current Bandar Jugra is a quaint, sleepy town that was once a royal town and the centre of British administration circa 1875. Bandar Jugra is easily accessible from the straits of Malacca and protected by the Jugra Hill, known for centuries as a navigation landmark for those traveling along the straits of Malacca.

However, when the colonial administration moved from Bandar Jugra to Klang and then eventually to Kuala Lumpur in 1880, Bandar Jugra quickly became a backwater. The lack of development in this area made for beautiful natural scenery especially if viewed from the top of Jugra Hill, or better, from a paraglide.
