Paradise! A Cool & Smart Show is one of the strangest and silliest theatre shows that I have ever seen. An energetic blend of audience interaction, improv and sketch comedy, Paradise! was confusing, gross and at times bizarre, but it had the audience in absolute stitches.

Paradise! is about two friends (played by Barney Pollock and Matt Young), who win tickets to work as conductors on a train headed to a place called Paradise. The friends are not sure how they ended up on the train and some of the other passengers seem a little bit…odd.

And who is the Ice Cream Man?

Paradise! is showing in the Studio at The Blue Room Theatre , at 53 James Street in the Perth Cultural Centre, in Northbridge from 12 February to 16 February 2019. The show is showing at 7.30pm each night. It is rated M for Mature Audiences and contains loud noises, strobe lighting, sexual references and drug use.

Barney Pollock and Matt Young both co-created, wrote and star in Paradise!

In 2017 he appeared at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival with his own solo show called 'I Quit'.

Barney Pollock and Matt Young are known as the comedy duo Cool & Smart.

Cool & Smart performed Paradise! A Cool & Smart Show at the Melbourne Fringe World Festival in September 2018. Weekend Notes writer Aridhi Anderson called their show [LINK=https://www.weekendnotes.com/paradise-courthouse-hotel-melbourne-fringe-review/]'Cool, smart, slightly gross, but fun as hell'.

Paradise! starts off with Pollock and Young stepping out onto an empty stage and greeting each other. The friends are unsure about which direction their life is going in but are excited about working as conductors on the train together. The show is made up of a number of small comedy sketches. It's a little bit hard to follow in parts. Pollock and Young play a variety of different characters who are all on the same train heading toward Paradise. They had a great stage presence and their acting was exceptional. They had the audience completely enraptured with their bad karaoke singing, absurd ranting, and nonsense talk.

I really liked the audience interaction in this show. Pollock and Young went right up to the people sitting in the audience and got them to participate in the show in a number of ways that had people gasping in shock and roaring in laughter. The lighting and stage direction in the show was another highlight to me. The bright colours and flashing lights really helped to create a nightmarish and otherworldly atmosphere for the show.

If you're easily offended than Paradise! might not be the show for you. The humour is crass and the twist about who the Ice Cream Man is and what he wants is pretty disgusting. This is not a show suitable for young children. But if you're older and like your humour a little gross, then you will enjoy this show.

You're in for one hell of a ride.
