Hike through the Adelaide Hills
. Whether readers are looking for a family activity or a catch up with good friends, hiking is good fun and great exercise. 'Para Wirra Recreation Park' offers beautiful views and wildlife that anyone would love. The Park is located in the northern Adelaide Hills, only 40 minutes from Adelaide and 20 minutes from Golden Grove, Elizabeth and Gawler and is entered by Humbug Scrub Road, One Tree Hill.

The park got its name 'Para Wirra' from an Aboriginal phrase meaning 'river with scrub'. There's something for everyone at this recreation park, whether guests are looking for a scenic walk or to sweat out those toxins, it is an afternoon well spent. There are picnic facilities and a lovely lake at the entrance. The park consists many tracks including Devils Nose, Hissey Loop Hike and Lizard Rock Nature Hike, Mack Creek Hike, Phoenix Hike, Wirra Loop Hike, Lady Pierce Hike, Quarry Hike, Victoria Hill Walk and The Knob Lookout Hike.

Hissey Loop Walk

1.7 km loop, 1 hour loop

Bushwalking along the many trails throughout the park is a popular activity enjoyed by most. Those hiking up the trails will see flora and fauna.The park is covered in gum trees and is home to over 100 species of native birds. Emus and Kangaroos can be frequently seen and occasionally the short-beaked echidna comes out for a visit. This park is home to these animals, so enjoy your hike and watch from a distance. Hiking is a great weekend activity for the whole family that is fun and free.
