Coffee with the cool kids in a retro vegan dog friendly cafe
I have finally found a cafe where I can enjoy great coffee with a sweet or savoury bite and not feel rushed to eat and get out.

Paper Moon Vegan Cafe in Annerley is the kind of welcoming place where friends meet for a proper conversation and authors come to write their daily word quota. You'll definitely be playing with the cool kids when you come here. And if being vegan is not enough, the feature that sealed the deal for me is they are dog friendly too. What a find, right?

Sink into a comfy lounge or perch at the high table with awesome retro swivel chairs. Play a game of pool for free or hideaway in one of the rooms with even more lovely lounges beckoning you to collapse into them. Maybe they should call it a lounging room instead!

This cafe is well known to locals who often head through the plastic strip curtain your grandma used to have on her back door, to enjoy the shaded garden area.

Many cafes did not make it through the Covid-19 pandemic which is ongoing at the time of writing this, but luckily, Paper Moon is still here. Possibly as a strategy to manage staff and stock during this uncertainty, their menu is currently limited to drinks and ready to eat vegan pies, pastries and sweet treats. Although you won't feel deprived when you see the contents of their food cabinet. Oh my lord, there goes my diet. At least I can wash it down with a cool drink or smooth coffee all while bopping away to the retro tunes coming out of the Wurlitzer.

There are flowers and coffee for sale and even doggy icecreams on offer. A couple of very cute floofers came through during my visit. I stayed much longer than anticipated, talking with my daughter and tapping my toes to the music. I left feeling better about the world and that's a sure sign I'll be back. I think you'll love the Paper Moon Vegan Coffee House too.
