Papa Gino's

Home > Melbourne > Restaurants
Published August 23rd 2010
Located in the heart of Carlton's famous Italian orbit – Lygon Street – Papa Gino's is a vibrant place to enjoy good Italian food. It's just a five-minute drive from Melbourne's central business district.

Papa Gino's offers fabulous meat, poultry and seafood dishes, pastas, soups, salads, side dishes and desserts. But the pizzas are by far the clinchers. They have a range of sauces available with the following options - gnocchi, riso (rice), ravioli, penne, fettuccini, tortellini and spaghetti. There's an impressive list of wines and other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

Papa Gino's is always bustling with people – any day of the week. They have indoor and outdoor seating and good service. The food is good value for money. But make sure to build your appetite fairly before stepping in, as the portions are huge.

Not to be missed:

Ortolana pizza ($14 for medium size) – with diced tomato, spinach, roasted red capsicum, zucchini, olives and cheese.

Quattro Gustri ($13.50 for medium size) – four different corners in one pizza (one each of vegetarian, Aussie-style, mushroom and margherita).

Scaloppine al Funghi ($21.50) – veal fillets in cream and mushroom sauce.

Penne Vongole ($17.50 for mains) – pasta served with shelled baby clams in Napoletana sauce.

Minestrone ($6.90) and Pasta e Fagiole ($6.90) are delicious and quite filling.

Lemon crepes with cream or ice cream ($9.50).
