Walk among the feathered neon bears
If you go down to the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) from May to August 2014 you are in for a big surprise - neon-coloured, feathered bears will be gathering together and taking over Federation Court at NGV International.
A suite of sculptural works by Italian artist Paola Pivi, entitled 'You Started It…I Finish It', the eight life-size sculptures of bears, which are adorned with neon-coloured feathers, will be placed among the court's architectural elements with carefree abandon.
Pivi creates enigmatic scenes with her carefully modeled figures, which are sculpted from urethane foam, adorned with psychedelic plumage and given a distinct personality and body language.
Don't miss these fun, flamboyant figures! Pop into the NGV and peer in at this party of vibrant bears as they greet visitors, pose and frolic, leap from the balcony, ask each other for a dance and engage in deep philosophical conversation or just recline in joyful, carefree abandon.
