Whether you are vegan or just want to purchase healthy organic ingredients, The Pantry of Wholefoods is a one stop shop for all your pantry goodies.

Situated in The Market Shed, it opens every Sunday from 9 am until around 4 pm. Wander the Market Shed and enjoy live music and delicious food stalls, then look for the blue door and stock up before you head home.

The proprietor, Pauline, is a wealth of information on vegan and organic produce and she works hard to reduce her own and her customers use of plastics and generation of waste.

When you first shop at the Pantry, you can buy varying size glass jars at very low cost and then bring them back to be refilled, thus reducing packaging and waste. If you don't want to do that, there are brown paper bags.

Another feature of the store is the ability to freshly grind flours from beans or other grains as required and there is also a mill to flatten oats for you, thus providing the freshest product and preserving the nutrients.

The Pantry has a small library where you can browse vegan cookbooks or purchase a copy to take home.

At present, Pauline doesn't have EFTPOS so make sure you bring some cash, because you will find it hard to resist her beautiful spices, flours, dried fruits and more.
