We were keen for a leisurely drive last weekend and chanced upon the
in the Yarra Valley. There are several signs directing the way from the main road and don't be alarmed by the dirt track you travel on up to the winery! There is plenty of parking right near the European inspired buildings and if you're lucky like we were you might be greeted by the friendly family dog.
When we arrived a wine tasting was already underway but Dorothy was very accommodating and took our order for lunch while we waited for the next round to start. We were impressed with her knowledge of the wines and the wine making process, and her obvious love of sharing this knowledge with others.
After the wine tasting we enjoyed house made pizzas and a glass of wine each. You can also eat inside if you prefer although it was a beautiful sunny day so we chose to sit out in the covered courtyard. We had regular pizza bases, but they do gluten free for an extra $2 per pizza. The pizzas we chose included potato and rosemary, olive pesto, and salami and spinach. They also have daily specials, which on this occasion included spinach and cheese parcels and boreks. The food is freshly prepared using ingredients from the garden and as we all agreed, made for a delicious and relaxing lunch.
After lunch we had a quick look upstairs where there are several cabinets displaying unique jewellery for sale. You can also look out across the property from various windows giving a great vantage point for photos.
We left satisfied with three bottles of wine under our arms and plans to return in the near future.
