Dance the Zorba, taste the sugary sweetness of honey puffs and join in the tradition of plate smashing at Brisbane's most popular Mediterranean Festival, Paniyiri, set to take over South Brisbane from 20 to 21 May 2023 for two days of Greek infused fun.
What is Paniyiri all about?Presented by the Greek Orthodox Community of St George, the Paniyiri Festival began as a picnic in 1976 by a group of Greek Australians with the aim to share their culture and cooking with the wider community. Now a 2-day event and in its 47th year, Paniyiri, is one of Brisbane's premier and longest-running cultural events.
Some of the highlights of this year's festival to showcase Greek culture include food stalls and cafes offering traditional Greek foodie favourites such as souvlaki, octopus, baklava and honey puffs, cooking demonstrations, dance performances, and competitions.
The festival will be open from Saturday 12pm to 10pm and Sunday 10am to 7pm. To join in the fun, secure a ticket and follow the blue and white flags and the cheers of Opa to find the Paniyiri Festival at Musgrave Park, South Brisbane.
