I am a world traveller & a mom of two, (8 & 6). I love to meet people, and am fascinated that there are 7 billion stories out there to be explored. I think Melbourne is the most happening city to live in with all the fun activities around town.

Fancy some delicious pancakes?
[ADVERT]On a recent trip to Gold Coast, our family was craving pancakes. While going through the local tourist attractions booklet, we not only found a restaurant devoted to pancakes, we also found a 10% discount coupon. Double the treat!
We decided to give it a try, but instead of going there for breakfast, we decided to have dinner there. Something about the name of the restaurant suggested greatness: Pancakes on the Rocks. We soon learnt that it was so named because the first ever branch to open was in Sydney Harbour in The Rocks. The history of the restaurant is quite interesting, so do give it a read.
The location was quite central in the tourist area of Gold Coast. At the time we arrived (around 6pm), the place was not too busy so we got personal service. Our hostess was very nice to the children and let them choose where they wanted to sit and even brought small milkshakes for them (on the house). Excellent marketing. We could make some very obvious comparisons about the menu and the décor with the famous pancakes restaurant IHOP (International House of Pancakes) in USA.
After an entertaining but tiring day at Movie World, we were all famished so we decided to have mains, and then order pancakes for desserts. After thoroughly studying the menu, my children ordered vegetarian pizza, my husband wanted to try the fish, and I ordered mushroom crepes. The order took its time and our stomachs were rumbling by the time the food arrived. Everything looked delicious and thankfully tasted as great as it looked.
Mains: from top to bottom: Vegetarian pizza, Grilled Fish, Mushroom Crepes
For desserts I was too full to order a separate order of pancakes so I decided I would share some with everyone else. My son got a pancake stack, which comes with a scoop of ice-cream. My daughter got the butterfly pancake; small pancakes arranged like the body of a butterfly, with syrup spread out like wings along with chocolate syrup antennae. Each small pancake comes with a small scoop of delicious vanilla ice-cream.
My husband got Macadamia Madness, which was scrumptious; pancakes with syrup and ice-cream topped with roasted macadamias. Mmmm mmmm.
