A Canberra institution
The Pancake Parlour in Canberra is a familiar haunt of mine - so familiar and so good for any kind of event that it was the setting of arguably my first date with my now-husband. He remembers it as the day he realised "Something Was Going On".

It's entirely possible the extreme deliciousness of the pancakes helped him to decide that maybe that "Something" was a good idea.

This is one of those rare restaurants that is brilliant for kids - I had an "Alice in Wonderland" birthday there when I was very young - and it's fun for groups (who doesn't love pancakes?) and for romance, too (the wooden booths separate you from other diners).

I married my husband (pictured, with our daughter) two years later - almost to the day - and that was six years ago.

The Pancake Parlour is a Canberra institution, and a must-eat for any visitor.
