My absolute favourite artist is back on deck after a break while she was recuperating from injuries which prevented her painting. How frustrating that must have been.
This new exhibition 'Around the Place' continues to showcase old and iconic buildings and landscapes in Brisbane and around the country.
Pamela Gough is a gifted artist who has won numerous awards and prizes. Her paintings are unique and absolutely gorgeous.
She explains that it's about being a "tourist in my own town"- a phrase she coined in 2006 and continues to use. She delights in enjoying what we have in our own backyard and close by but has also painted scenes from everywhere she goes - all around the place in fact!
She is passionate about getting to know the history of our town and letting the City unravel its stories – they can be found hidden in the maps and the names of suburbs even in research at the State Archives. Details such as house plans, maps and messages are incorporated into her artwork.
Most of her works are large, so won't fit in my tiny house but luckily she has a range of very affordable prints available.
