Lots of markets pop up around Darwin during the dry season. One of them is Palmerston Markets. Palmerston Markets is a unique because it uses the open space of Goyder Oval.

Open space at Goyder Oval
There are a lot of things that Palmerston Markets offers visitors including free entertainment on the main stage and free activities for children. The open space of Goyder Oval also allows children to run around and let their extra energy out. Like other markets, Palmerston Markets has a good variety of food, art and craft, fashion, and other bric-a-brac.

I noticed that a couple of fashion stalls gave special discounts on selected items. The food selection is largely dominated with Asian foods and desserts, but Greek desserts can also be found. There are also some stalls that selling locally grown fruits and vegetables.

Grab a bargain!
The favourite stall is the laksa place and on the night when we were there the queue in front was very long and the ladies who served the food were very busy.
One down side of Palmerston Markets is all the seating area is not under the shade. However do not come too late because you might be disappointed as the food disappears really quickly!

Palmerston Market is open every Friday starting from 5pm up to 9pm during dry season, April to October.
