The walk is under the canopy of a beautiful forest. There are piccabeen palm groves, strangler figs and trees with big buttresses, hoop pines, brush boxes and grey gums.

Palm Grove section includes two trails: Palm Grove Circuit and
Jenyns Circuit.
Palm Grove Circuit is classified Grade 4, meaning the trail is rugged, the distance is 2.7 km return; allow about 1hour walking time.
Jenyns Circuit is classified Grade 4, the distance is 4.8 km, allow about 1 hour and a half walking time.
The hike starts at Palm Grove Avenue, Tamborine Mountain, Queensland; there is a small carpark available.

At the start of the hike there is an information board with maps. Photo by Author.

The piccabeen palms have aerial roots exposed above the soil surface. The aerial roots allow them to absorb oxygen when the soil is flooded or waterlogged.
The piccabeen palms produce thousands of seeds, most falling directly under the parent trees. The seeds grow quickly, shading all other plants and creating groves of palms. Also, the dense root system prevents other plants from growing within the grove.

The Group Hiking South East Qld and More generally hike four trails in one day, since some of the trails are short. Generally in the morning, the group hikes Witches Falls Section and Palm Grove Section, leaving The Knoll Section and Joalah Section in the afternoon.
At lunchtime, the group have a break at Spice of Life Cafe, at 28 Main St, Tamborine Mountain QLD 4272.

What to bring
Hiking gear: a hiking medium backpack, long trousers and shirt with long sleeve, light raincoat, very recommended hiking ankle supportive boots, first aid kit, insect repellent (it works for leeches; give preference to cream or roll-on that are more environmentally friendly than the spray), sunscreen, gloves, walking poles if you like to use them, socks protectors or gaiters.
Consider packing some extra clothes and leave them in the car. Pack some clean footwear and socks.
For this hike, consider carrying a map or download a good app on your smartphone that can help you to navigate in the bush.
Bring a medium day backpack with lots of water, especially if it's a hot day, 1.5 litres of water and snacks. During summer, you can bring electrolytes to dissolve in water to compensate for the loss through perspiration.
You may consider packing sandwiches, fresh fruit, dry fruit, energy bars and small meals.
Walk with family, friends or in a group. Never alone!
