See some excellent movies at this Festival
This incredible Film Festival will be held in Melbourne from 4th October to 7th October, 2018.

The Palestinian Film Festival Australia is a "social impact initiative dedicated to building cultural understanding and promoting Palestinian arts and culture in a multicultural Australian context".

It is running in seven states of Australia and donations received will be used to produce the festival and such things as cinema hire and PR. You will be able to see the very best of Palestinian movies, and the festival has been going now for ten years. It has a large following with community interest and support.

All the movies for this festival will be shown at the Cinema Nova, 380 Lygon Street, Carlton.

When: Thursday 4th October, at 7 pm

About: The title of Wajib translates as "duty". Duty calls Shadi back from Rome to Nazareth, where his sister, Amal will be married. This is the story of events that lead to the wedding.

This is a multi-award winning comedy/drama about the lives of Palestinians living in Israel. You can see a video clip and read more about it here,

About: The Tower is a fiction animation movie which is based on true stories of Palestinian refugees living in camps in Lebanon. The film tells the story of Wardi and her family and the love they have for one another. It is told through the innocent eyes of an 11-year-old girl exiled in Beirut.

The film is based on interviews with Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.

About: This movie tells the events of the establishments of Israel as witnessed through the eyes of the people who lived it. This is more of a documentary where both Israeli and Palestinians give their accounts of the creation of a state.

About: In 2007, world-renowned street artist Banksy went to Palestine and painted several politically charged works on walls and buildings all over the city.

His mural of a donkey being checked by an Israeli soldier is mistaken for anti-Palestinian propaganda, and this is the story of what happens after he did this. This is both provocative and interesting!

About: Saleem is a Palestinian deliveryman and Sarah is an Israeli running a cafe in West Jerusalem. Despite being worlds apart, Sarah and Saleem risk everything as they commence an affair that could tear apart their respective families. This is their story.

This year's Palestinian Film Festival Australia design is inspired by Hisham's Palace, an archaeological site in Jericho, Palestine. Jericho is about 10,000 years old and one of the world's oldest continuously inhabited cities.
