With more than 2000 stores worldwide, K-pot kings is set to launch a new branch in January 2023 in the heart of Melbourne's CBD at 15-17 Healeys Lane, Melbourne. They are cementing themselves in Australia with a total of three Paik's stores state-wide thus far. A successful launch of
Paik's Noodle early 2022, and the warm embrace of
Paik's Bibim were welcomed by all Korean food lovers, however, this new Paik's offering will comprise of an entirely different menu and cooking methods to its sibling venues.
This time, the focus is on championing unsung Korean dishes and offering cook-at-the-table service; with punters encouraged to roll up their sleeves and simmer their own skillet of weird and wonderful K-Pot (Korean style hot pot) and Ddeokbokki simmered rice cakes. Most excitingly, is the first restaurant of its kind in Melbourne with a signature focus on dishing up Dakgalbi, the ever so popular Korean iteration of a spicy chicken stir-fry. It's a hearty combination of succulent, stir-fired chicken that's marinated in a myriad of spicy Korean seasonings such as chilli paste (Gochujang), rice wine and Korean curry powder, Dakgalbi is cooked in a cast iron skillet with crispy, chewy rice cakes, sweet potato, green cabbage, and Korean Perilla leaves (Kkaennip Jangajji).
Another signature dish to be expected is Rabbokki, the popular, traditional, and texturally exciting combination of ramen noodles and tteokbokki (rice cakes) covered in a spicy, sweet'n'sour sauce presenting an exquisite umami flavour. You've been given a heads-up, so put the month in your diary, then set a date to indulge with your besties around a steamy and swirly K-Pot, a Shabu Shabu-esque broth that's cooked at the table with a selection of veggies, thinly sliced beef, and chewy noodles. For the ultimate Korean experience, load up with spam, Korean dumplings and top with stringy, gooey cheese. If you've never tried Korean food before, perhaps is the place to ignite your virgin voyage into all things delicious and wonderful.
