Book stores are a dying breed, so I was delighted when I stumbled across this little gem of a secondhand bookshop - "Page Two".

From the outside the building looks as if it might have been a mechanics garage or perhaps some sort of manufacturing business in the distant past however there are little traces left of what the original building may have been used for. The building has now been modified into a shop that sells second hand books. Just off Gertrude St in Fitzroy it was a delightful find.

The place is literally oozing with books

There is something for everyone here. Essentially Page Two is an online bookstore, however it is open on the weekends to the general public and there is nothing more delightful than rummaging around this little shop as there are lots of finds to be made as it is literally crammed with books.

Can't make it on the weekends? Then you can ring to make a special appointment, but if you're in the area it is worth popping in if you're a fan of books and reading. It has the feeling of the old bookstores that are fast disappearing as the bigger chains take over the bookstore retail space. As their website says it is really "An Aladdin's cave of vintage, second-hand, interesting books". I had the impression that there could be a few hidden gems here if you took the time to look.

So if you are in the area on the weekend take some time out of your busy schedule to visit this wonderful little bookshop. Close to the Melbourne CBD only a short ride on the No. 86 tram, but for those trying to get motivated to do some walking you can walk from the Melbourne CBD as it is a very easy walk.
