Whether you're looking for a new place to meet friends for coffee or a quiet place to sip your beverage of choice, Paddock Espresso has you covered. Tucked away in a quiet side street at the Grange, this small cafe has only been open for 8 weeks and was attracting a steady flow of customers when I visited, a few days ago.
With one of the owners recently completing a degree in nutrition, the plan for this cafe is to offer healthy food and drink choices and locally sourced food and ingredients. Sweet pastries and cakes are made locally and milk comes from a co-op rather than a supermarket. Delicious breads come from Sol Breads - how does warm banana bread or fig and nut toast sound? If you require a gluten free option, the girls assure me there will always be a gluten free treat waiting for you to enjoy with your coffee. Following the "paddock to plate" philosophy as closely as they are able, the owners aim to buy organic produce whenever possible.
I enjoyed my Bellisimo coffee, another local product. Bellisimo Coffee is a multi award-winning, boutique roaster of premium quality coffee. Bellisimo coffee beans are roasted at their Bulimba business, on Brisbane's south side.
Whilst meals are not available as yet, they will soon be appearing on the menu. At present, warm toasties are offered as a quick lunch solution. But watch this space, as they say, because meals will be galloping in shortly!
