This was as good as it looked.

The Paddock Cafe at the MCG greets you with a smiling doorman as you enter a world beyond the general admin stand.

Permit me to take you on my football journey which will explain my love of this cafe.

I was not a football fan. Apologies to my fellow Victorians for this admission. Greasy, overpriced food and takeaway coffee were part of the 'cringe factor' I associated with a day at the football. Friends have intervened and I'm on a Victorian football rehabilitation and education intervention.

I am on a quest to find my comfort zone at each venue. At Etihad Stadium, I know I will get a healthy, budget conscious meal with smiling service at Duke of Waffles and now I have the MCG covered with Paddock Cafe.

Great location - no missing the match.

Given Paddock greeted me with a doorman, worldly decor and shiny glass cabinets of specially created goodies, I was overjoyed to find prices within my very tight budget. The cake and coffee deal is highly recommended as the selection of cakes were supreme, with many options I had never tried before.

Yum! Cakes
Cake and Coffee Special-great deal.

The staff were lovely. Even with a line up behind me and all my indecision over which cake to indulge in, they were patient and helpful.

I did not miss any of the match thanks to its location and the big screens provided. It was a quiet location, so I can recommend this cafe to perhaps a family whose children might not be coping with the noise of the football but don't want to miss the action.

I really only went for the takeaway coffee and the company but after a relaxing start in Paddocks lovely cafe, I got carried away and the Crows won, so it was a dash down to the cheer squad to fully embrace my new love of football.
