This day supports Juiced TV and the Children's Hospital Foundation. Here you can bring the whole family and friends along for an "oarsome" day of great performances on stage.
About Juiced TV
The programme began in 2015 at Queensland's Lady Cilento Children's Hospital. Since that date, it has directly touched the lives of more than 1,800 patients and their families. This has helped to improve the children's hospital stays and created a unique way for them to meet and communicate with one another.
Each week, Juice creates a 25-minute children's television program. This in turn gives patients and their siblings the chance to star in their own TV show! They can host their own segments or join the junior crew on location at the hospital.
Each episode made can range from animal encounters, hospital profiles and music workshops. This way, patients get the opportunity to meet their favourite idols.
They also have "outside" the hospital content in the shows, by creating happenings outside the hospital walls. These have included going on private behind-the-scenes tours at concerts, stage shows and film sets, swimming with dolphins, and feeding rhinos!
The Events There will be children's fun workshops, free family-friendly entertainment, dancers, celebrity guests, interactive children's displays, exhibits, roving performers and games.
The stage will be packed full of amazing entertainment and food for all - with gourmet food vans. It will be held at the South Bank Cultural Forecourt, on Saturday 16th June 2018 and will be on from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm.
To go into the race, you can register as a team or individual. All money raised from the events will help Juiced TV create fantastic memories for sick children and their families across Queensland.
There is no experience required for you to paddle and you will be helping to support "the TV show made by the kids in hospital, for the kids in hospital".
If you have never tried dragon boating, now is your chance! If you're keen to pick up a paddle to show your support, then make sure you attend this event!
You could make up your own team with friends and family, or even work colleagues, or you can compete on your own. Get involved in The Paddle for Kids Festival and Dragon Boat Race Day, and help sick children across Queensland!
Part of the programme for this year is as follows:
Dragon Boat Race
Last year, over 300 participants from South East Queensland businesses went on the Brisbane River to Paddle for Kids, raising over $52,000 to help sick children around the State. All funds raised go directly to the Children's Hospital Foundation and the Australian first entertainment and distraction programme, Juiced TV.
The Paddle for Kids Dragon Boat regatta also takes place on Saturday 16th June, alongside South Bank's Cultural Forecourt. Every 200-metre race has four teams competing against each other to make it into the grand final race.
Each team has between 16 and 20 people paddling (over 18 years). They have been given their Dragon Boat, equipment, 2 additional experienced crew members from the event partner, Dragon Boat Queensland, and a training session before the actual day.
