I'm a mother of four with two coeliac children. I'm always on the lookout for great gluten-free spots around Brisbane and feature gluten-free cooking in my blog: coeliacfamily.blogspot.com.au
I'm also a muso and enjoy live music around town.

Delightful deli offers desirable dishes
Nestled between other boutique stores, this one is worth stopping at.
Paddington Deli and Epicerie is nestled between boutique craft shops and coffee shops on the busy strip at Paddington, however this venue differs from its neighbours due to it's forward thinking, great local products and terrific new Spring breakfast and lunch menu. With offerings ranging from gluten-free buckwheat zucchini and corn fritters with avocado salsa, to middle eastern spiced crispy chicken salad with Israeli cous cous, roasted pumpkin, rocket and Pedro Xeminez sherry vinegar, there is sure to be something to satisfy everyone's tastebuds.
Gluten Free Buckwheat, zucchini and corn fritters received the approval tick from my 15 year old coeliac son
If it's drinks you're after, then there is the silky smooth coffee made on Segafredo and Maleny Dairies milk and the spring frappe. Also passing the taste test are the delicious iced chocolates and milkshakes. However my personal go to drink is the Italian Hot Chocolate. The Deli stocks a wide range of T Licious teas as well as Tiro sparkling mineral waters.
While you are sitting eating your scrumptious breakfast or lunch, be sure to check out the fantastic deli offerings. Cabinets and shelves are stuffed full of local and international produce, as well as goodies produced right there in the cafe. Try the chef's gorgeous marinated feta or special blend muesli.
Coeliacs will be delighted with the range of foods available. While not all are specifically marked on the menu, owner Antoinette Pease has a sibling who lives with Coeliac Disease, so she ensures that most of the deli meats are gluten free and that there is always gluten free bread on hand. There is even tabouleh that is gluten free using red quinoa instead of cracked wheat. As a special treat, on weekends you will find Nodo Donuts - if you get there quick enough that is!
A new venture for the Paddington Deli & Epicerie are their "Twilight in the Epicerie" evenings. Held on Friday and Saturday from 4 - 8pm, these evenings are a great opportunity to relax after work over a gourmet platter. Choose from the Charcuterie Platter, Cheese Platter, Lebanese Mezzo Platter or a traditional Anipasto platter. Bring along your own wine or six pack and really let your hair down. Group bookings are available by calling 3367 8819. What a great way to have an informal Christmas break-up with work colleagues.
Of course much of their delightful menu is available for catering, including hot meals, sandwiches and wraps, gourmet salads, platters, finger foods and sweets. With 24 hours notice you can have all of their wonderful food brought to your door.
Friendly staff are on hand to help with product choices
This Deli is certainly worth a visit, whether for a quick pick up for dinner party supplies, a lazy Sunday morning breakfast or a few drinks to wind down after work. Staff are friendly and helpful and the surroundings cozy. To stay up to date with their daily specials, take a look at the Paddington Deli & Epicure Facebook Page or "Like" it.
