Moffat Beach on the Sunshine Coast will host one of the most popular and oldest surfing competitions this April.
The Pa and Ma Bendall Memorial Surfing Contest is back for another year. Be sure to factor in 10th to 12th April 2022 for 3 days of surfing action. The competition was established in 1974 and is named in honour of former Sunshine Coast local surfing heroes, Ma (Majory) and Pa (Charles) Bendall.
As beach lovers who came to surfing later in life, 'Pa' is considered the grandad of surfing in Queensland. He and his wife Marjory (Ma) settled in Caloundra in the 1950s and took to the waves, showing that you are never too old to ride a wave.
Categories include Cadet Boys, Junior Girls, Senior Mens, Masters and more But it's not all just about surfing. You can take a break from the serious surf action and browse through market stalls on the coastline.
And to help keep the kids entertained, there's even a park named after the famous local pair. Ma and Pa Bendall Park, beside the surfside has a grassy park with surf-themed play equipment for the kids to crawl and climb over and through.
The row of Moffat Beach cafes and restaurants, located beside the beach are also ready to satisfy your caffeine craving along with serving meals with stunning ocean views. It's another great way to support local businesses on the coast.
So don't miss out on all the surfing action of this year's Pa and Ma Bendall Memorial Surfing Contest. The event is organised by Wind ad Sea Boardriders.
Moffat Beach is located alongside the Queen of the Colonies Avenue in Caloundra.
