How does cauliflower stem rice, potato peels, pigs ears, chicken skin, carrot tops, pickled watermelon rind and black bananas grab you? Mmmmm, what a delicious combination!? You can be assured, it's going to be 'sweet as' at the OzHarvest Fundraising Dinner on Thursday 9 August from 6.30pm to 10.30pm at Meat Fish Wine, 31 Artemis Lane, Melbourne CBD. Please note, due to the nature of this event with a pre-designed menu, limited dietary requirements can be catered for.
This fundraiser will be serving up a four-course banquet menu designed by Red Spice Road Executive Chef, John McLeay, served over 8 dishes with matching wines. Tickets are $99 per person, with all proceeds going to OzHarvest.
If you want to experience a dinner where every ingredient has been put to good use; where the wine is all about saving grapes, and all the support is for legends who are out at the forefront killing it, this is one good cause to get behind. Perhaps you'll learn a thing or two about putting to good use for zero waste, what you'd generally call scraps and offcuts that go in the bin.
Partnering with like-minded Unico Zelo wines is a perfect fit for this event, as they are involved in avoiding wastage of grapes in the Adelaide Hills region. If you've not heard of OzHarvest by now, they're Australia's leading food rescue organisation, collecting quality excess food from commercial outlets and delivering it directly to more than 1,000 charities that support people in need across the country. They also aim to educate people about preventing food waste. Grab a ticket, support a great cause, eat something different and be a local hero.
