A solid 3/5, this film is not as endearing as the original, in that the characters are not as memorable, and the story is not as emotionally engaging.

Even still, it contained a good level of magic and wonder, and linked in well with the original, with no glaring continuity errors (some film makers could learn from this- are you listening George & Ridley?)

Different underlying message to 'the Wizard' (with ingenuity & hard work, anything can be achieved; and your actions have consequences). I was a little disappointed that not all of the elements from the original were included, although I recognise that the makers possibly wanted to keep something for the sequel(s); after all, there's a lot of $ to be made, & Di$ney are very good at exploiting stories for $!
