Enjoy eating some free soup while thinking and learning about food waste and go home with a happy stomach and a resolve to save food from ending up in the bin unnecessarily.
This is the aim of OzHarvest and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), which together run the Think.Eat.Save campaign - raising awareness of global and local food waste and how to reduce it.
Taking place on 24 July from 11:30am until 2pm at The University of Melbourne's North Court, Think.Eat.Save 2017 combines delicious free soup for lunch with information on food waste and food insecurity.
The information about this important issue that we all need to be aware of and do our bit to help resolve will be conveyed by an expert panel, which will also share tips and tricks on how to reduce food waste in your home.
With 4 million tonnes of food being wasted in Australia every year - equating to Australians throwing one in five bags of groceries in the bin - we all need some help reducing food wastage!
Reducing food waste is not only necessary for our planet to be able to provide humanity with enough resources in the future (as it is an enormous drain on natural resources and a contributor to negative environmental impacts), on a smaller scale it will also save you food, time and money at home.
