Named in honour of John Oxley, Tamworth's scenic lookout is worth a visit next time you're in the vicinity. It offers an incredible 180-degree view of the city, especially on a fine day. Its facilities are well-maintained and provide visitors with the opportunity to enjoy a picnic or barbeque. Clean public toilets are also available.



In case you're wondering, John Oxley was an explorer who passed through the region in 1818. He saw rich fertile land near the site we now know as Tamworth.



can be found on Scenic Road, off White Street. It is easily accessible by car, however, you can also walk up there if you're feeling energetic. Just be aware that the 500-metre track has been graded as hard with very steep terrain. The lookout is open every day from 7am to 10pm.
