Enjoy the great outdoors
Hasn't the weather been just divine? I love autumn; where it's warm enough to enjoy the outdoors, and the sun is warming but not burning us fair-skinned types. Perfect for a picnic, and Oxley Creek Common is a lovely place to enjoy this.

Located in Rocklea, Oxley Creek Common is a large green area, with undercover picnic tables, BBQs, toilets, and a lovely walking track. It even has some flood markers to give perspective of how high the water was in 1974 (pictured above, with explanatory sign below). The metal sculptures high up the wooden poles represent canoes that would have been floating on the top of the water. Somewhere I wouldn't want to be during the flood.

It was a weekday I had my lunch here, and the place was pleasantly deserted. I had a walk around and found a windmill (pictured below), and would have loved to have stayed there all day.

Oxley Creek Common can be accessed from Sherwood Road, and more information can be found here.
