Outer Space Espresso

Last week, I stopped in to
Outerspace Espresso on Brooks street in Fortitude Valley. The cafe was referred to me by a friend and being a lover of coffee and sweets, did I need any more reason to indulge?
Being the Valley, I expected a small, yet funky cafe with the little stools and snooty staff to match. Instead, I was greeted by smiling staff who patiently explained all the types of coffee, suggesting some blends and enticed me with their baked goods.
The cafe uses Toby's Estate Coffee as their supplier so I tried the Kenyan Bean blend and a organic berry muffin. The coffee was strong, smooth and milky (the way I like it) and the berry was delicious - a dangerous mix.
The cafe's atmosphere and setting was very relaxing and I would say one of the best things about Outer Space. Underneath the Moroccan-type sails, the tables and chairs (normal size with backs on the chairs) were positioned around a big bottle tree and bushes surrounding the cafe hide you from the street ensuring total privacy.
The cafe itself is connected to Inner Space, which is a upmarket furniture store that is in the old church behind the cafe. The furniture the cafe uses comes from the store so if you're thinking about decorating, pop in and have a look.
The downside for me is that the cafe is a bit out of the way as I work in the city nor do they open on weekends. There is, however, parking on the street and behind the church so it's definitely worth stopping in for a coffee with breakfast or lunch during the week.
And the muffins are definitely worth the hours in the gym.
