The Out-The-Back Market at Tecoma is now becoming a familiar sight, a mainstay you could say, of Tecoma. Not bad seeing this is only the 4th market event being held on Saturday 20 June 2015 from 10am to 2pm corner of Burwood Highway and Sandells Road, Tecoma. It's working at becoming somewhere the local population can look forward to as a meeting point to catch up with friends and family. Somewhere to stop for the traveller passing through or coming to the market purposely. If you were there at last month's event you could say the Transformer's brought their fans out of the woodwork which was a good thing for the stallholders.
You won't go hungry at this little market. Tecoma's very own Cafe 1551 will be there with delicious coffee and cakes. You can't look past Wildwood Herbals either. She's always got a great pot of organic herbal tea brewing that beckons you to her stall to check out her other teas and cruelty free, health and beauty products handmade in Tecoma.
MrDuk's Eat My Tarts is always a favourite to stop at for a delicious assortment of tarts. He's got quite a fan base who love his delicious tarts. For some sweets or as the British say, 'pudding' after your meal, Mrs B's British Bakery is the stall I make a bee-line for. My British friends certainly love her Eccles cakes reminiscent of their childhood.
Rockabilly Kitchen's lemon tarts are definitely more-ish for me. Check out her stall for other slices and more. If you like lighting candles while having a meal for atmosphere or even just to relax Soy Poured by Hand will be there with their beautifully scented soy wax candles. If you look at their Facebook page, you'll see that the scents are quite complex. For instance, the Mediterranean Fig featured is described as beginning with a top note of green apple, strawberry, melon and fig. The heart a fresh green floral with lily, rosewood jasmine and violet. The base a rich woody bouquet with oak moss and velvety cashmere. Doesn't that just sound delicious and make you want to check out more?
D.M.G. Fashion is your one stop shop for young teenagers and adults alike with their variety of clothing and caps, while Bubidi Boo! Dressing Tomorrow's Future caters more to the young lady with her well made fashion accessories and more. The Calico Co never disappoints with her beautifully made one of a kind sculpted cloth dolls while Freya's Fancies dazzles you with her gemstone jewellery, quirky cake stands, dream catchers, and more.
The newbie at the market is Treasures for Treasures a jewellery, toy and giftshop. I especially love their lockets which you can personalise with little miniature charms. Talk to the stall holder about having and hosting your very own Treasures for Treasures party at home on these cold winter evenings. You can buy without leaving your home and get a discount in the bargain.

This little community market has more to offer than what's listed here so make sure you check it out. All funds raised go back into the community and your support is much appreciated. These market events are a slow lead up to the big event, 'The Tecoma Spring Carnival' which will involve the local community and Yarra Ranges Council. The Council will in fact be holding a 'Have Your Say' consultation with the local community. The purpose, to ensure the markets, entertainment and community volunteer organisations together show off the best of Tecoma and what it has to offer. Watch this space for the 'big event'.
