Do you love a good spy movie?
Our Kind of Traitor
Our Kind of Traitor

Our Kind of Traitor was written by spy novelist John Le Carre, who wrote 'Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy' and 'The Night Manger'. It's a taut thriller dealing with money laundering between Russia and Britain.

Married couple Perry (Ewan McGregor) and Gail (Naomie Harris) meet Russian Dima (Stellan Skarsgard) while on holidays in Marrakesh. They become friends over a game of tennis and later a lavish party, before Dima asks Perry for a favour. Dima wants to get out of a money laundering racket and to move his family to the safety of Britain in exchange for providing information to M16.

The movie starts with suspense and continues to maintain the fast-paced action. The storyline has many unexpected twists and turns. John Le Carre movies are often compared to James Bond as they have similar themes, but I found this movie more believable, which may be because John worked for British Foreign Service in his early career. John can't type, so all of his books were handwritten.

The film is set in some breath-taking locations including London, Paris, Bern, The French Alps, Finland (Russian scenes) and Marrakesh. I was amazed to learn that it was shot over ten weeks in Spring 2014, using ninety sets and filmed in around fifty different locations.

I recommend watching Our Kind of Traitor in the cinemas so that you can appreciate the great cinematography.

Our Kind of Traitor is coming to cinemas in Australia from Thursday 14th July 2016. It will be appearing at various cinemas around Australia.
